Description:
- On September 29, the lively fishermen's district of La Barceloneta celebrates its patron saint, St. Michael. The festival starts with a bizarre and grotesque French character by the name of General Bum Bum strolling around the streets followed by the local kids. Then there are all sorts of cultural and sporting events along with firework displays and street parties where people sing 'habaneras' (songs composed by Catalans who emigrated to Cuba to make their fortune). Come to La Barceloneta for a taste of local character and colourful traditions. The event is free for all.
