Description:
- Famous chef, Ken Hom, once declared that 'Food to the Chinese has always meant much more than mere sustenance'. He could have been talking about Chopstick of Southgate. Perched on a corner, at the bottom of Southgate, just a short walk from the train station, the restaurant is often overlooked by diners who tend to congregate in the upper end of town where eating establishments aren't quite so thin on the ground. From an unassuming facade, you step into a small restaurant decorated in various shades of red. To call the decor gaudy would be unfair; it would also be an understatement. Everything from the tacky decorations to the paper napkins tells you that you should turn tail and run. Those who stay, soon come to realise exactly why Chopstick is full every night. What Chopstick lacks in tasteful surroundings, it more than makes up for with a tempting menu of traditional Chinese and Cantonese dishes. Those in the know choose the sweet and sour chicken served on a bed of vegetables and rice ... delicious.
