Description:

  • This two hundred year old residence, built in 1771 for Richard Shepherd, is today the home of Anne, Princess Royal. The manor house was built of Bath stone and the grounds include a lake full of trout and considerable stabling facilities. This is fortunate for the Princess Royal, as she has been a lifetime lover of horses, and in fact, she won a gold medal at the European Eventing Championships. Gatcombe Estate now hosts the annual British Festival of Eventing.
