Lake Tiorati Beach - Bear Mountain

  • Description:

    • Clearing swampland in Harriman State Park and constructing a concrete dam to make two ponds into one large lake formed Lake Tiorati Beach. Surrounded by meadows, wooded and rolling terrain, the park offers excellent swimming, fishing, boating and picnicking opportunities. Group camping is allowed with prior approval. Bicycling is permitted on park roads; helmets are required. A boat launch is available for permit holders. The park is open year-round. In winter, visitors enjoy ice skating. Dogs are permitted in the Lake Tiorati Beach area if they are muzzled and the leash is not more than 6 feet. A rabies tag must be displayed.
