Musée des Beaux-Arts et Musée Marey

Description:

  • Along with a rich Gallo-Roman archaeological section, this museum has paintings from the 16th to the 19th centuries, including Flemish primitives, and pieces by Felix Ziem, a precursor of the Impressionists. Sculptures from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance are also on display. The museum also honors Beaune physiologist Etienne Jules Marey, who discovered the principles of the cinema long before 1895.
