Beijing has several bar areas, the hippest and coolest of which are Houhai Lake, Sanlitun and Nanluoguxiang. These three bar areas offer a collection of hip, up and coming bars where the cool kids gather to play dice, chat or drink cheaper local beers. You'll find all of these areas packed on any given Friday or Saturday night-- there's always a party in Beijing's nightlife in one of these areas!
Bar Blu and Blue Frog and the Bookworm are excellent Sanlitun area bars. Bar Blu is a great choice for a hip hang out lounge with a small dance floor and trendy staff. Blue Frog is a restaurant/bar with excellent service, and great drink specials. Bookworm has a steady stream of trendy yuppies eager to partake in the fun atmosphere.
Hutong Bar, Loong Bar and Face Bar are trendy, hip locations with a more rustic and relaxed vibe that attracts a youthful crowd of professionals and career people ready to party.
Propaganda is a fun, trendy, dance club where the youths of the university district gather to dance, drink cheap booze and socialize.
Finally Houhai bar street is an excellent and hip place for a drink. Slowly meander around the lake as you check out all the bars on offer and enjoy the scenery.
