Beijing is a cool city! everyone who visits with any sort of idea about where to go and what to see will fall in love with this hip, cool city.
Start off your day with a stroll down some of the best streets in Beijing, including the famous ghost street, where you'll find some of the city's best local restaurants, and of course a healthy amount of ghosts. Signs along the walkway explain the origin of the street's name.
Wangfujing is the complete opposite of Ghost Street, and holds the city's glittering malls and western-style shopping mega stores. You'll find the English Language Bookstore here, which has guides to the city, maps and loads of other English reading.
For a flash back to the Beijing past, head to Nanluoguxiang, a refurbished old-world street with great bars, like the tiny 12sqm Bar & Cafe, and awesome eats, like the Drum and Bell restaurant. The Street also boasts impressive shopping and the ideal place for photo shoots.
For more interactive fun, head to the Blue Zoo, with Asia's longest underwater tunnel for viewing sharks and other amazing sea creatures. Then head to the Beijing Zoo, where you'll see an astonishing array of creatures from around the globe. The shooting range is a bit of interactive and cool fun, and you'll get to sample Chinese weaponry, too. Or for a more serene venture, head to Black Dragon Pool for a bit of clean air and quiet.
Don't miss the Temple of Heaven in the south, or the underground city, both offer unique and creepy views at bygone eras.
