  • Finding great Chinese food in Beijing isn't a difficult task. Walk into any mom and pop restaurant and you're sure to find something on the menu you'll enjoy.... that is if you can read the all-Chinese menu! Here are some suggestions for Chinese restaurants with English speaking staff or English menus that offer delicious foods that have stood the test of time in China's capital city.

    Located in a charming hutong alley near Nanluoguxiang, the Hot Bean Cooperative boasts the best Chinese-style chicken wings in Beijing. You'll find the hip and cool staff doing their best to practice English with you, while their artistic skills are proudly displayed on all of the walls.

    The traditional meal in Beijing, at least the one thing you need to try before you depart, is Beijing Roast Duck/ Beijing Dadong Kaoya Dian is a fine place for your Peking duck experience, and won't disappoint.

    Culture is in the food at Li Jing Xuan Chinese Restaurant, where the menu ranges from the absurdly spicy to the deliciously sweet. For local fare, this is a top choice that comes highly recommended by locals.

    In winter, nothing is more filling or warming that hot pot at Little Sheep. The decor is simple but the food certainly isn't. You pump fresh ingredients into a boiling vat of spice and warmth-- there is always a line so go early to ensure you get a seat.

    For Chinese noodles, the Noodle Loft is a favorite. The charming setting defies your expectations and sets the course for a pleasant evening of slurping and fun.

    Naturally, Chinese food is easy to find in China-- and in the capital the options are beyond overwhelming. Any of the suggestions here would make for a wonderful evening, though you could realistically pop into any restaurant and point at anything on the menu-- try a bit of adventure and see what you get served!
