Top 10:

Beijing Vegetarian Restaurants

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Beijing is a healthy, Buddhist city and as such there are a plethora of vegetarian restaurants keeping the populous smiling. Even at regular, meat-eating establishments you'll find there are special vegetarian dishes on the menu, sometimes even called Buddhist dishes, to satisfy the herbivores among us.

The most famous vegetarian restaurant in China's capital city is Gongdelin Vegetarian Restaurant, which has a famous buffet with countless veggie options that will fill you up with healthy nutrients and much needed vitamins without harming a hair on an animal's adorable head.

Element Fresh, an American restaurant serving only the finest healthy items, has become wildly popular among Beijing's vegetarians. The salads are rich and hearty and the soups are thoughtful and thick. The real attraction is the shakes with added nutrients to make you grow up big and strong.

Elaine's Vegetarian Restaurant and Bar is another popular place for veggie lovers, you'll find a lot of college students there working on homework as they munch on hummus and slurp carrot juice. Its a nice place to hang out and the food isn't bad either.

Pure Lotus and Still Thoughts Vegetarian Restaurants are also popular veggie hangouts, and you'll find a large group of Rastafarian-style free thinkers lounging at the tables. Men in business suits who are more health conscious than the stereotype would normally permit are a frequent and amusing sight at these green joints.

Indian and Thai food have great vegetarian options, and Purple Haze Thai and Indian Kitchen go out of their way to provide a veggie option for the veggie lovers.
