Downtown Beijing is divided into four sections, of which the northern and eastern districts are the best located for visitors. Dong Cheng, the north-eastern quarter has all the famous attractions (Tienanmen Square, Forbidden City, etc). The Tangyue Hotel is located some 800 meters from the Tienanmen Square subway station, and close to the Forbidden City. Designed as a business hotel, Tangyue boasts an excellent café, bar, and tea house. For business travelers, there is a conference center and free internet. The ticket office offers special tours and tickets to the tourist hot spots.
The Grand Hyatt Beijing is located minutes away from the Forbidden City and Tienanmen Square. It is also located next to the city's ritzy shopping area, Wangfujing Road, where you can find traditional silk shops, tea houses and Chinese department stores. The hotel also houses two award-winning restaurants; Made in China and Noble Court.
The Chaoyang District is home to much of Beijing cultural treasures, as well as many of the Olympic stadiums. Here you can find the National Stadium, or "Bird's Nest," which is free for visitors, as well as many of the other buildings made especially for the 2008 Olympics. Chaoyang District also houses the Dashanzi Art District, which contains a large selection of contemporary Chinese art. A lot of the accommodation in this area was made especially for the Olympics. This means there are many Western-style serviced apartments, like the Beijing Free Town Hotel Apartment and Beijing Tae Yue Suites. There is no minimum stay period for these apartments, but a daily rate applies dependant on the number of bedrooms in your suite.
