  • Located in Haidian, the Summer Palace is an out-of-the-way site that many choose to skip because of its location. Since the subway line 4 linked to the Summer Palace, the site has become more popular and restaurants and bars in the area have sprung up around the metro line. Now, the Summer Palace isn't so far away, and it shouldn't be missed!

    Pyro Pizza is amazingly popular with the students in Haidian and Wudaokou (the student district). You'll find the place packed any day of the week, and crazy on the weekends. Still, if you make it out to the summer palace its worth a bit of a wait for a fine pizza in Beijing.

    D-22 is one of the more popular clubs in Beijing, and located smack in the student district where the prime clientele dwell. If you visit the Summer palace near closing time, this is a great after-dinner location to keep the party rolling.

    For Chinese food after seeing the Summer Palace, head to Xiangyang Tun, or Three Guizhou Men, both are popular with locals and tourists and offer a range of meals to suit even the most discerning traveler.

    The Bridge Cafe and Italian Restaurant and Lounge offer western food near the Summer Palace. Since you'll be tuckered out having climbed up to the temple some 500 steps and back down, you'll need more carbs and these locations have that on offer.
