  • A visit to China isn't complete without a visit to Beijing. And the biggest attractions to the city are well worth visiting. Everything from the Great Wall to the Forbidden City are located within a short drive of each other, making this the most densely packed city of attractions in China.

To start it off, head to Guije, where you'll walk under red lanterns as you explore Beijing's side streets, restaurants and bars. While not on the main attractions list, from here you'll find yourself centrally located to see everything the city has to offer!

The Forbidden City, a short jaunt from Guijie, is where the Emperors of old used to live and was the seat of power for several dynasties. The classic picture here-- make the peace sign outside the front gate with the palace in the background.

The Great Wall, you've heard of it and you've always wanted to go! An hour drive from the city center, you'll find hundreds of other happy tourists on the wall sharing your glee.

Nanluoguxiang is a pleasing little cultural alleyway where you can see the Chinese hutong homes as well as cafes, restaurants and bars as well as some chic shopping. No visit to China is complete without checking out the famous hutong homes!

Qianmen Market, HouHai Lake and the Antique Market are all great places to grab souvenirs. Be aware that you need to bargain hard at all of these locations, and don't back down once you've set the price you want.

Tiananmen Square is infamous and well worth a visit. Combine this with your visit to the Forbidden City as they are in the same general area, and you'll be able to hit up some of China' hottest attractions all at once.
