Noodle Loft (Mian Ku Shanxi Shiyi)

Description:

• Unheard of outside China and rarely found in such stylish surroundings, Shanxi cuisine is noted for its vinegary flavors, liberal use of tomatoes, and large variety of interesting noodles. The Noodle Loft's interior is ultra-modern in orange and gray, with a large open kitchen featuring giant woks and steamers. An English menu makes ordering easy. Highlights include yi ba zhua (fried wheat cakes with chives), qiao mian mao erduo (cat's ear-shaped pasta stir-fried with chopped meat), and suancai tudou (vinegared potato slices).
