spc coffee

    • This is quiet hovel, located only a stone's throw away from the chaos that is the main Beijing train station. What's to love most about this place is not the coffee, but the snooze-worthy chairs at this establishment. If you're still tired from one of those overnight trains, this is a good place to catch some extra rest. In addition to the great huanjing ("setting" in Chinese) they offer free WiFi, so you can still stay in touch with friends or plan your next destination. Finally, on to the food. The selection you'll find is on par with Starbucks in terms of variety, quality, and price. Unfortunately, this isn't the place for those on a budget (most sandwiches run about 20+ yuan). One thing to note is that whoever the curator is of SPC, they should be praised for their accuracy and attention to details. Many restaurants and coffee places offer Western styles, but few actually take the time to make the recipe right. At SPC the coffee tastes like coffee, the bread tastes as if it had been baked properly, and well, you already know about the chairs.
