- Set inside the five-star Palace Hotel, this exclusive shopping arcade is elegantly decorated with a fountain and shining marble floors, but needless to say, totally deserted. Catering to the hotel's high-end guests, the arcade has three floors of expensive designer boutiques such as Chanel, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Escada, Prada, Kenzo and Givenchy. For a bit of pampering, the Palace Hair Salon and the Clarins Institut provide haircuts and facial treatments respectively. Not a soul in sight can be found apart from the sales people and the occasional Japanese tourist. Compared to the hectic and crowded frenzy of most shopping centers in Beijing, the hushed quiet of the Palace is a nice change.
