    • Most everyone, locals and visitors like the Silk Market. As with many places, haggle, haggle, haggle, otherwise you could end up paying way too much for a shirt or curio item. Remember also that these folks make extremely little money for what they do. If you're a newbie, they might ask 300 or 400 for a t-shirt, you shouldn't pay more than 25-30yuan. Don't barter below what items would be worth, it's offensive. You can get everything there from casual to dress clothing, tailored suits, toys, kids clothes and upstairs...tons of jewelry. Silk Street is one stop down from GuoMao on the subway, Line 1. They're open from 10ish to 9ish. There's also a whole host of cafes just outside. If you just want a snack, there's a grocery store in the basement.
