Temple of the God of Taishan

Description:

  • This Taoist temple was built during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) as a place to worship the Supreme Celestial Emperor of Tai Shan, one of the five sacred mountains of China. A glazed memorial archway inscribed with 'In Reverence to the God of the Mountain' stands at the temple's front entrance. It is also the site of the Beijing Folk Custom Museum, and a temple fair is held here during the Spring Festival each year.
