Hi,

Wow, a day in Beijing, a city that has enough to see for a month or a life time.

Well, shopping, go for the Pearl market.

Best regards
Anders

I like the YaShow market, it's not as high pressure as the Pearl Market, though, sometimes it's fun to have a whole bunch of people shouting at you to buy their wares.

Any cabbie should know "YaShow", if they don't just
say "SanLiTun" they should drop you at the corner where the big Adidas shop, go left for about 500 meters.

If you start early enough you can take a ride out to the MuTianYu Great Wall, and by noontime head back to Beijing. Hit the Silk market for window shopping and then Ya Xiao (sp) for buying. Also not far away is the Yabalu Russian market which is interesting and cheaper.

One single day is too short for Beijing. Anyway, if you had only a half day for sightseeing and another half day for shopping, then Forbidden City or the Great Wall is the must and Yashow or Silk Market maybe is the best choices.

You could find the Beijing City tour on (http://www.alpstyletravel.com/DomesticItineraryList.aspx?id=16), you can pick up any single day for your Beijing Sightseeing.

A day in Beijing is certainly not enough time. For one day maybe visit The Great Wall early and do some shopping at the Silk Market in the afternoon or evening. If you just want to stay in the city, visit the Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Summer Palace. There are also some parks worth visiting. Behai Park and Jingshan are some good ones. Enjoy

A day is so short...you can choose some extraordinary places which are not far from the downtown,eg the Palace Museum,Wangfujing,Xidan shopping center.

If you only have one day explorering Beijing, I suggested you go to the very center here - the Tiananmen square. The Forbidden City located there. And for the shopping, Wu Daokou in Hai Dian district is one good place to go.
