If you're referring to the weather - spring (April - early June) or autumn (Sept - late Oct) are the best times. Temperature very comfortable. Spring however has known to bring sand storms however, so if you're unlucky you might find a yellow mist lurking in the city. Mid-Summer is generally very hot and humid, and generally speaking quite a lot of walking is needed to get around Beijing.

I agree with Terrance Parker. In my 5 years here I have enjoyed the spring weather. It can be windy sometimes but generally this is a good time to visit, especially enjoying the flowers. Early to mid October is also good for mild temperatures and pretty Autumn colours. Beijing can hace severe pollution days in any month and that is just bad luck. Generally the spring winds make for clear days. It is easy to spend a week doing the sites of Beijing.

Like everywhere, the best months to travel are a month before or a month after tourist season. :) You'll still get decent weather but not have to deal with hoardes of people.
I'd try for May or September. :)
