Malone House

Description:

  • Malone House is a Georgian mansion sitting on a hilltop within Barnett Demesne, commanding spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. It was burned to the ground in an IRA firebomb in 1976, and its valuable collection of Belfast linen destroyed, but has since been fully restored with the aid of the Belfast Council and the National Trust. It is now used for a wide range of events from business conferences to wedding receptions, providing full facilities. Inside you'll also find the Higgin Gallery and the Barnett Restaurant. The building and the surrounding parklands have been immortalised by the poet and one-time Belfast resident, Paul Muldoon, in his poem Gathering Mushrooms.
