The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive

Description:

• Near the south end of Chuckanut Drive, this restaurant is the most formal of the handful of restaurants along the scenic drive. Of course, as the name implies, fresh local oysters are one of the specialties here, but the restaurant also serves up a wide range of imaginative dishes, the likes of which you aren't likely to find on any other area menus: buffalo with chanterelle mushrooms, truffle oil, and a cabernet reduction; cedar-plank salmon, abalone with hazelnut-lime butter. There are great views of Samish Bay and the San Juan Islands. Desserts feature local fruits and berries. There's an excellent wine cellar.
