This sprawling resort is less a hotel than a town unto itself, and with a wealth of activities available for active vacationers, it is the first choice of many families vacationing in central Oregon. Most of the lodge accommodations overlook both the golf course and the mountains. My favorite rooms are the loft suites, which have stone fireplaces, high ceilings, and rustic log furniture, although the rooms in the River Lodge building are the most luxurious. Pine trees shade the grounds, and 38 miles of paved bicycle paths connect the resort with the surrounding community. However, no matter how impressive the other facilities are, it is the three golf courses that attract the most business. The resort's main dining room features creative Northwest cuisine and has superb views of the mountains. An adjacent lounge offers a cozy fireplace.
