    Relaxing on the back patio on a summer evening with a glass of wine, overlooking the lagoon of the Deschutes River, is a great way to end an active day of exploring the town or the surrounding region. The food is excellent, and don't miss the honey butter and fresh bread to start, and the giant mud pie to close the loop.

    • Opened in 1936, the Pine Tavern Restaurant has been a local favorite for generations, and neither the decor nor the view has changed much over the years. Knotty pine and cozy booths give the restaurant an old-fashioned feel, while a 250-year-old ponderosa pine growing up through the center of one dining room provides a bit of grandeur. The menu is designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes and includes such comfort foods as meat loaf and baby back ribs, but the prime rib and the sourdough scones with honey butter are what this place is best known for. Try to get a table in the back room, which overlooks Mirror Pond.
