Gramercy Bistro

Description:

• This quiet bistro has come up in the world over the last couple of years and now rules the North Adams culinary roost. It has expanded into the adjacent storefront, applied paint to the walls, hung new artwork, and laid tablecloths over the once-bare tables. On the menu, organic and local meet creative and global. Witness shrimp with spicy red Thai curry; sea scallops with sweet potato, plantain hash, and roasted poblano sauce; sweetbreads with beurre noir and pumpkin tortellini; and crab cake with wasabi-soy vinaigrette (about as good as that dish gets). Much of it works, although some tricks amount to good impulses that fall short.
