Café Einstein

Description:

  • This legendary cafe became famous for its mellow house-roasted Kaffee and Kuchen (freshly made cakes). It became so good, in fact, that it spawned a chain of swanky coffee bars across Berlin. But we always like to go to the original, which is decorated like a gilded cafe in Vienna. It's as grand as a ballroom and is found in an old townhouse mansion. We often drop in for an elaborate breakfast, which usually costs us 10€ ($13) each. You can also return later in the day for a wide range of dishes, going from prosciutto from Italy (also Italian cheeses) to such New Yorker favorites as smoked salmon, bagels, and cream cheese. We think the Apfelstrudel is among the best in Berlin with its paper-thin pastry sheets and amber-colored fresh fruit. Ask for it mit Sahne (with cream). It's open 9am to 1am daily.
