St.-Matthäi-Kirche

Description:

  • Simple, yet exotic and full of life, the orange-hued St. Matthew's Church was built in 1845 by August Stoerbaute whose design was obviously inspired by early Christian and Byzantine churches. Seriously damaged during the War, the exterior of the church has since been fully restored. The interior remains bare, yet it is still worth going inside as the church tower offers a wonderful panorama over Berlin's rooftops and the nearby Kulturforum. Furthermore, it is likely that something in its daily entertainment program will be of interest. Lectures, workshops and concerts can be attended on a near-nightly basis.
