Stasi Museum

Description:

  • The Stasi Museum was opened on November 7, 1991, in the rooms formerly occupied by the secret police. Today, it shows the office of Erich Mielke, the Stasi minister for 32 years, in its original state with the secretariat and private area. Visitors can also see the offices of Mielke's closest co-workers, a spacious conference room and a canteen. Also you could find the political-operative, co-action with the German People's Police and government persecution in East Germany between 1945 and 1989 documented here. Visitors can also see spying apparatus, flags, medals, busts, photos and documents recording the storming of the building in 1990 and the forced displacement of people along Germany's borders.
