Any shops that work on Sunday?

Around Alexander Platz, most shops will be open, but in more residential districts, many will be closed. The best thing to do in Berlin on a Sunday is join the locals and have 'Berlin Brunch - a city institution.

In Germany the traditional Sunday is very much intact. In Berlin very few shops are open on Sundays. You will find bakers open in the mornings but little else. There are shops open at the major transport inter-changes, for example, the Hauptbahnhof or Ostbahnhof. There, you find that Lidl and Rewe supermarkets are open and a branch of the Rossmann drugstore chain. The post office will be open too. All the usual snack bars will be open as will the inevitable MacDonalds. The major depatment stores open on Sundays in Germany during Advent. Saturdays and Sundays are the days for the flea markets. Other than that, Berlin just like the rest of Germany is closed. Of course you can still have a beer.
