Like the people, the food in Bermuda is a mixture of cultures -- an assortment of wonderful cuisine with something for everybody. The cheap restaurants of Bermuda will let you have your fill of delectable food without burning a hole in your pocket. Our favorit local haunt is the Specialty Inn. This South Shore restaurant's international menu revolves around Bermudian cuisine with Italian zest. The inn is known for its value, generous portions, and its sense of fun, unpretentious cooking. Red bean soup, an ideal starter, reflects the island's Portuguese influence; and the Bermuda fish chowder is particularly good.
For tasty but reasonably priced Italian food, head to Pasta Basta. This restaurant serves a cafeteria-style pasta-and-salad combination. Customers are offered two kinds of salads -- tossed and Caesar -- and about a dozen varieties of pasta. Served in full or half portions, they include two kinds of lasagna, plus a frequently changing array of pastas topped with a choice of meat, seafood, and vegetarian sauces. This restaurant is a great place to fill up on great food at a reasonable price.
