Description:

  • This bastion of refined cuisine ranks near the top in all of the Basque country's restaurants. In a multiroomed, vaguely French setting furnished in late Victorian style, you'll find a formal environment. Lunches tend to focus on business discussions among clients; dinners tend to be more leisurely and recreational. One of the most unusual dining areas is the wine cellar, where the only table is reserved, sometimes many days in advance, by diners who appreciate being surrounded by valuable vintages. It's more likely, however, that your table will be on the restaurant's street level. In a city where the restaurant competition is fierce, this kitchen emerges at the very top. Menu items include most of the traditional Basque staples, like pigeon breast or sea bass marinated and roasted in red Rioja wine. The tasting menu presents a wide variety of imaginative dishes including roast suckling pig flavored with cinnamon oil or guinea fowl with the tantalizing addition of truffle juice.

  •

    over-rated

  • Dined in Zorziko as a group of 20. A very disappointing meal as I was expecting alot more. Food was very plain, seabass followed by lamb chops. Both came with little or no garnishes....
