The fun in Birmingham does not stop when the sun sets. Venture to Downtown for a concert, dance show, or theatrical performance and you won’t be disappointed. Located in the Jefferson Convention Complex the BJCC Theater is a 1,000 seat theater that hosts international music sensations as well as is the home for the Birmingham Children's Theater. For a big musical experience that will knock your socks off check out the Boutwell Auditorium and sing along to your favorite rock songs. This auditorium hosts concerts, but it is also the venue for large trade and fashion shows. While Downtown be sure to buy tickets to see a movie or a live show at the historic Alabama Theater for a night of fun and a trace of nostalgia. The theater boosts a Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ or “Big Bertha” as it is commonly called, that plays along to silent movies and entertains guests before the show begins. In the summer, the theater plays movies ranging from The Lion King to The Odd Couple. If you’d like a drink before or after the show you should head over to Ona’s Music Room. At this hip club you can enjoy a classic libation and listen or dance to the jazz, blues, and soul that fill the atmosphere.

The Five Points South Entertainment district in Birmingham’s Southside is a definite must-see for all major nighttime activities. Located on historic Cobb Lane, the Blue Monkey Lounge is an upscale martini bar that is reminiscent of the “speak-easies” of years past. During the summer relax on the patio; enjoy a cigar, a cocktail, and the most fabulous ambiance. Zydeco is also in the Five Points South Entertainment district and while it is a huge it does not lose the intimacy you crave at a smaller venue. It has three floors of fun; the first floor is the bar area with pool tables and Creole/Cajun bar food, the second floor is the large outdoor patio, and last but not least is the third floor where you’ll be able to hear and groove to local musicians.
