Last weekend the town on Maiori on the Amalfi Coast kicked off the Christmas season with the inauguration of the Maiori Winter 2010 festival. This exciting winter festival will bring some new things to do to the Amalfi Coast this holiday season, including ice skating. Yes, ice skating! A temporary ice rink of 12 X 20 meters has been built near the port to add to the Christmas feel of the winter celebrations in Maiori. The ice rink is open every day until midnight through the entire festival. The Maiori Winter 2010 festival runs through January 9th and will also present concerts by the local music groups O’ Marenariello and Gli Scugnizzi, Christmas nativities, sacred music concerts in Maiori’s beautiful churches and traditional Christmas games. The historic center of town and the waterfront feature colorful light displays that set the scene for a wonderful evening outing for the holidays.
