Where to Eat in Amalfi

Food — By Laura Thayer on January 29, 2011 at 7:14 pm

I’ve been hard at work customizing the Amalfi Restaurant Guide on NileGuide with the best restaurants in town, from fine seaside dining to great spots to pick up a quick and delicious lunch while out and about. There are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from … and I’ve only just begun! If you have a favorite restaurant in Amalfi that I haven’t included yet, please leave a comment and share your experiences.

Not sure where to begin? Since San Valentino is just around the corner (I’m a romantic … so I think early!), perhaps you’re looking for a romantic restaurant in Amalfi? Or, if you’d like to try the traditional cuisine of the Amalfi Coast, check out my recommendations for where to find the most traditional restaurants in Amalfi. Traveling with your family? Check out these Kid-friendly restaurants in Amalfi. Like to get away from the crowds? Then you’ll want to visit the off the beaten path restaurants in Amalfi and in nearby Atrani, Vettica and Pogerola that I’ve recommended. That should help you get a good start on your list of where to eat in Amalfi. Happy travel planning!

My son (8 at the time) and I ate twice at Da Barracca, in Piazza dei Dogi. We really loved it there, very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. Moderately priced if I recall correctly, and my son especially liked how the waiters paid attention to him, joking and treating him like an adult. When I go back to Amalfi, that will be where I have my first meal.

Ciao Annika! That’s a great restaurant, and your review is excellent. Da Barracca is on my list to add to the restaurant listings for sure! I love Piazza dei Dogi and this is a very friendly restaurant. Thanks for sharing about your favorite restaurant in Amalfi … and I hope you’ll be back very soon! 🙂

I have stood in that very spot myself, what a stunning photograph, it has a postcard quality Laura.

Thank you for your kind words, Linda! Although the choice is difficult … I think this view from Lo Smeraldino is my favorite in Amalfi. Next time you’re here, head over to Le Arcate in Atrani for dinner by the sea. That’s my second favorite view! 🙂
