The Beach Restaurant, Antigua

Located on popular and picturesque Dickenson Bay, The Beach restaurant is one of the top rated restaurants on the island of Antigua.  Family-run since 1987, The Beach is part of the Big Banana Holding Company which also includes a pizza restaurant as well as an airport location.

Set directly on the beach, you can’t get any closer to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean if you tried.  The Beach is located within a five minute drive of St. John’s or within walking distance of Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa and Siboney Beach Club, along with five other resorts that are spread out along the bay.

The fun atmosphere offers a mix of contemporary, Asian, and Caribbean cuisine, and is frequented by visitors and locals alike.  With its tropical grounds and dark teak woods, The Beach offers an authentic Caribbean dining experience serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.  Every Sunday, The Beach holds an all-day beach barbeque with live music to dance the day or night away.  The bar and lounge offers the perfect location from which to watch the amazing Caribbean sunsets.

Recommendations at The Beach include a starter of Salad Caprese, their famous Grilled Lobster or Deep Fried Shrimp, followed by Coconut Cream Pie or the scrumptious Apple Rum Bread Pudding for dessert.  If you’re looking for lunch, try the Fried Plantains along with the Big Banana Classic Burger.  Another sure bet is to go with the local daily special.  The Beach is also home to Pizzas in Paradise, another favorite of both tourists and locals.  Try the basic Margherita pizza or the All-America; both are choices you won’t be disappointed with.

If The Beach is busy, here’s an insider tip: ask the staff if you can be seated on the sand.  For a small fee, they’re very willing to accommodate your request and it’s well worth it to be slightly away from the noise and crowds, plus they’ll still come to your table to serve you.

When it’s time to leave this little piece of paradise known as Antigua, check out the Big Banana 17° 61° restaurant and lounge located at V. C. Bird International Airport.  Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily since 1996, they also offer daily specials and appetizing bar snacks.

If you’re looking to hold an event while visiting Antigua such as a wedding or reception, Big Banana also offers a catering service which, once again, will be sure to please.
