Brewpubs in Auckland

Food, Things to Do — By Marie Szamborski on October 20, 2010 at 8:00 pm

Looking for somewhere you can hang out and taste some local brews this weekend? Here are a few places that should make you happy. They also offer quite good food.

The Ol’ Faithfuls: These two have been around for quite a while and the beer doesn’t disappoint. Galbraith’s, in particular, has a good atmosphere.

Galbraith’s Alehouse 2 Mt. Eden Road

The Shakespeare Tavern and Brewery 61 Albert Street

The Young Bucks: Located in a newly developed area behind the Britomart Station. This is really close to the Vector arena so if you are heading there for an event these places are convenient. They do get crowded after events, however. Fair warning!

Mac’s Northern Steamship Company 122 Quay Street

Offshore: One more option although you’ll have to get a ferry. If you were already planning a trip to Waiheke, check this out.

Waiheke Island Brewery 82 Onetangi Road, Onetangi

This is part of the Wild on Waiheke activity group and is not a pub, but if you are looking to taste a local beer from the island they do have a tasting room. They also have wine and olive oil tasting, if you’re that way inclined.

Note: This list has also been written as a guide so that you can easily print it out to carry with you.
