Music in the Parks: Jazz at the Rotunda

Events, Things to Do — By Marie Szamborski on January 14, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Every Sunday at 2pm from now until the end of March, there will be relaxing jazz music played at the rotunda in the Auckland Domain. These are free events and when the weather is good, it’s really nice to bring a picnic along and sit under the trees soaking up the atmosphere. The rotunda sits in between The Winter Gardens (also free) and the Auckland War Memorial Museum. You could easily spend an afternoon doing all three. Or extend the day further and have breakfast in Parnell before taking the 15-20 minute walk up towards the Domain. And don’t forget about La Cigale French Market. It is also open on Sundays and has delicious pastries and coffee forĀ  breakfast. The only flaw in that plan is the huge hill between the French Market and the Domain, so make sure you’ve had enough coffee.
