New Zealand is a great family destination and Auckland has some good places to settle your tribe down for the night. Many people opt to take the campervan route and pack family members and their gear into one big vehicle for the duration of the New Zealand holiday. But wanting to see the city doesn’t mean you have to park up and pay extra for a hotel. If you look to the fringes there are a few nice places to stay which offer things to keep children and teenagers busy. A favourite is the Takapuna Beach Holiday Park. It’s located on the North Shore, right on the beach for the little ones, and within walking distance to hangouts for teenagers who need their space.
If you are keen to get further out and spend some quality time with the family, you can go west to the Lone Kauri Lodge. You can go tramping or get to the black sand beaches easily. Or rent your own house and get that family reunion going just off the beach at Kohimarama Retreat in the suburbs. The house sleeps up to 10 people.
