5 Things to Love About Auckland

Things to Do, Travel Tips, What's New — By Marie Szamborski on March 22, 2011 at 5:43 pm

This week, as your friendly Local Expert here at NileGuide, I am supporting Blog4NZ to remind people of just how awesome New Zealand is and why you should head on down here. Here are 5 things to love about Auckland to get you started.

Auckland’s landscape is dotted with them, most of which you can climb for a view. Mt. Eden is my favourite place for a picnic overlooking the city. Climb up with your nibblies in your daypack, or pack up the rental car boot and drive up. My other favourite is Rangitoto. A mere baby, Rangitoto has only been here since just after the first Maori arrived on these shores.

All the cool kids get their souvenirs on either K’ Road (Karangahape Road) or High Street. Locally made, handcrafted and unique.

Adrenaline Rushes

Walk on or jump off the Sky Tower or the Harbour Bridge, get wet in a jet boat, or feel the speed of an America’s Cup racing boat.

Find out about how life is intertwined with the sea on this island nation at the Maritime Museum or contemplate our place in the Pacific at the War Memorial Museum.

How could I leave out the beaches? Enjoy a calm city beach with a latte or head out to the wild West coast for some surfing or boogie boarding.

Still need more convincing?! Ok then, check out these Top 10 lists.
