When you think of romance in the city, Baltimore may not be the first place that comes to mind. Yes, there’s Paris, Venice, Munich, and Prague but there’s also Baltimore. It’s just a matter of knowing where to go to create it.
Baltimore’s biggest draw for travelers is the Inner Harbor with its restaurants, shopping and attractions along the water. However, there are other places around town for visitors to explore and create romance – some amongst water, some further inland. As long as you can end your evening near the water, whether it be at the Harbor or Fells Point, you can’t go wrong.
As beautiful as the water is, we can’t write off the rest of the city for romantic venues. In Mount Vernon, you can opt for a different type of date and satiate your romantic needs with a variety of refined musical performances at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
After soothing your ears, you have your pick of the litter when it comes to romantic restaurants in Baltimore. However, Sotto Sopra, also located in Mount Vernon, will fill your belly without breaking the bank. Come on, most things Italian are automatically romantic. And an evening at Sotto Sopra will quickly transport you to the land of romance, passport excluded.
All that said, as artsy and cultural as the Mount Vernon area is, there’s just something about the water. A short drive and romantic stroll along the cobblestones of Fells Point and to the bar stools of V-No Wine Bar is a great way to wrap up a date night. You will have experienced two very different sides of Baltimore yet highlighted the shared romantic face.
