Baltimore can lay official claims to being the first city to have a venue sell tickets on Facebook. Ram’s Head Live began selling tickets on its FaceBook fan page a couple of weeks ago and with over 10,000 fans, the venue makes it easier for concert goers to purchase tickets without going offsite to TicketMaster.
The fan page allows users to see which friends are attending and who of the page’s fans is attending as well. Of course, users will need to grant the application permission to go into their profile - an FB feature that still makes me a little uneasy with privacy leaks – and then fans can choose whatever concert they need tickets for.
Ram’s Head Group hasn’t posted any stats on the fan page generated ticket sales just yet – I’m sure because it’s too soon. However, it will be interesting to see how this shakes up TicketMaster’s dominance, if at all. I’m confident that they’ll get with the program and offer a similar service soon. Down with the man, I say.
