Bangkok Photo Friday: Bars on Wheels
Food, Nightlife — By Kevin Revolinski on June 18, 2010 at 4:40 amOne of the quirky, fun aspects of Bangkok nightlife is the portable bar scene. A rinky dink tiki-bar, the kind you and your fraternity/sorority friends nailed together in college in the basement, might appear on the sidewalk right in downtown Bangkok serving mixed drinks with some portable music and folding chairs/tables. Another classic is the drive-up bars, built into a vehicle and serving from their parking spots. Sukhumvit Soi 11 is always guaranteed to show one or two when the sun goes down. But I have to admit the milk man took me by surprise. I have seen the dairy bar on wheels during the day near Phaya Thai and in the evening at the On Nut food court. There may be more than one. Peace, Love Milk, and Understanding.
