Bangkok Photo Friday: Salt Pans
Things to Do — By Kevin Revolinski on August 27, 2010 at 6:22 pmWhile there is much you can see and do using public transportation in Thailand, especially Bangkok, you might still consider a rental car for a day or three. Or at least hire a driver. Just a short drive outside the big city is another world, and I’m not talking the popular out-of-town attractions such as Bang Pa-In Summer Palace or Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I mean the unnamed, unmarked places: Rice paddies, small towns, out-of-the-way local seafood restaurants — places where you are unlikely to bump into other tourists. Today’s four shots are of salt pans (salt evaporation ponds) within a half hour of Bangkok. They are abundant along the coast southwest of the city, and throughout the day the changing light of the sun does wonderful things to them.
