As if Bangkok wasn’t already an excellent place to eat. Foodies take note: coming up are two special culinary events that you shouldn’t miss.
International TASTE 2010 Amazing Thailand
Not all Thai food is the same. Those who know Thailand know that the various regions and cultures within the Kingdom all have something different to offer in their kitchens. Differences may be big or small, but the result is a deliciously broad label of “Thai food.” From September 10-12, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing this food event that combines the full range of Thai food with several international cuisines. Famous chefs and Thai celebrities will be on hand to entertain and show you how these dishes are made. Learn about the origins and recipes and then sample a bit from the many food stalls. The event location is the Fountain Courtyard next to Siam Paragon. There will also be a bartender cocktail mixing show.
For more information, call the TAT Call Center at 1672.
11th World Gourmet Festival
From September 6th through the 12th, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok will be bringing together 8 international chefs, from 7 different countries for a 7-day culinary extravaganza. In addition to each of the chefs showcasing their specialties for lunches and dinners, expect wine tastings as well. 100 baht from each ticket goes to the “Save A Child’s Life from AIDS” charity and a silent auction in the hotel lobby will raise funds for it as well.
Chefs hail from England, Australia, France, Italy, China, Argentina, and the United States and you can read about them on the festival’s website. Here’s something a little unusual as well: Chandler Burr, The New York Times’ Perfume Critic, will host a “scent dinner” on the 12th.
