Art & Vino in Barcelona

Things to Do, Travel Tips, What's New — By sammednick on August 14, 2010 at 8:47 am

One of the best perks about Barcelona, is that you can pretty much buy wine (and any other type of alcohol) at anytime and anywhere! If you’ve run out of vino it’s easy to hit up the closest local ‘tienda’ and spend no more than 4 euros on a decent bottle.

However, if you have a slightly more refined palate and don’t mind shelling out a  bit more, Barcelona also boasts some of the coolest niche wine shops.

One of my new found favourites and just recently opened, Paladar D’Estruc Vinoteca is quickly becoming one of Barcelona’s  trendiest  shops.  This charming, classy, quaint, side street tienda, has a wide selection of wines, gourmet foods and vino accessories. But the best thing about the store, is that it’s more than just a wine shop; it doubles as a small art gallery, featuring new artists every few weeks. In addition to the art openings, Paladar hosts poetry contests, wine tastings and holds wine courses as well. It’s a wonderful place to not only buy a few bottles, but to have a few drinks, chat with the owners (two Venezuelan girls) who are always very friendly and to check out new international artists.

If you’re partial to good tasting wine and feel like experiencing something different, this shop is definitely worth a visit.

It’s centrally located right off of Portal De L’Angel and 2 minutes from Plaza Catalunya.
