Living in Barcelona can definitely make you spoiled when it comes to the weather. Scattered gray clouds, a few days of drizzle and one or two storms is enough to put a Barcelona local over the edge. Even though the city is far more appealing when the sun shines, there are a few things one can do to keep occupied if the weather isn’t cooperating.
Here are a few suggestions to keep entertained and dry if it’s raining in Barcelona.
1: The Aquarium - This is a great excursion especially if you have kids. Located in Port Vell, close to La Rambla, Barcelona has the largest aquarium in Europe with 21 glass tanks. It’s guaranteed to kill a few hours on a rainy day.
2: Movies – Barcelona has a few theatres featuring movies in ‘voz original’ (original voice), meaning you can watch them in english with spanish subtitles. Check out Icaria near the beach or Verdi Cinemas on c/Verdi in Gracia, both of which have a large selection of movies.
3: Picasso Museum – Even if you’re not into museums, Barcelona’s Museu Picasso is captivating, even for the ‘artistically uninterested’. You can make your way through the museum in a quick hour or spend a bit more time exploring Picasso’s life and his various artistic periods.
