„How to get to the airport?” is most probably a question that has left everybody’s mouth at one point or another. In Budapest, there are three answers, preceded by the question „budget or convenient”? Below are listed all three possibilities:
- Train: Ever since a railway stop has been built right outside Liszt Ferenc Airport (formerly known as Ferihegy, but recently renamed) Terminal 1, it takes no more than 17 minutes to reach the airport from the inner city (Western Railway Station). Trains leave for the airport roughly every 20 minutes and full price tickets cost 400ft. For those flying from Terminal 2, a change to bus no. 200 is necessary, making the journey less convenient
- Bus no. 200: Runs from Kőbánya Kispest all the way to Terminal 2. This will be a slightly longer journey that by train, but more convenient for those flying form terminal 2 as no changes are necessary.
- Taxi: If all else fails, the good old taxi service won’t! This is obviously the most convenient, but not the most cost effective means of transport to the airport, which should cost roughly 6000ft, plus-minus 1000ft depending on where one is travelling from. Recommended taxi companies: City Taxi (0036 1 2 111 111), Taxi 2000 (0036 1 2 000 000).
