Louise Bourgeois: The Return of the Repressed is on now at the Fundación Proa, La Boca’s main cultural institution and one of the principal venues for international art exhibitions in Buenos Aires. The show boasts the most comprehensive body of the French artist’s work to ever be exhibited in Latin America. The key piece? Maman, a 4-story high iron sculpture of a spider, overlooking the Riachuelo in La Boca’s harbor. The work is Bourgeios’ signature sculpture.
The show is organized by Proa in conjunction with the Louise Bourgeois Studio in New York, her adopted hometown, and the Instituto Tomie Ohtake in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Louise Bourgeois: The Return of the Repressed will be on exhibition at Proa until June 19.
