It’s that time of year again – the weather is turning cooler, tan lines are fading, and little weekend getaways to the coast are a distant memory. Shift gears from vacation mentality to culture overdose with the BAFICI international independent cinema festival, which kicks off Wednesday April 6. With this year’s edition, BAFICI marks 13 years of promoting and celebrating indepedent film in Buenos Aires. Lasting for a week and a half, BAFICI will be premiering hundreds of films, both Argentinean and foreign, with all sorts of associated events. We recommend checking out a few of the features in the Argentine shorts sector, selections from the International Features category (featuring films from Japan, the United States, Sweden, Brazil, Serbia, Spain, and more), and some of the Retro Focus features, including a Super 8 sector and a collection of works by Jean-Luc Godard.
Browse through all of the showtimes for features in BAFICI 2011 here, where tickets are also available for online purchase. The festival runs from April 6-17 in theaters throughout the city.
