The Second Annual Cabo Marine Show was held in the Marina Golden Zone last weekend, from April 21 to April 23, showcasing exhibitors, live entertainment, and a superb collection of the latest marine products and accessories, high-performance boats and seagoing craft of all imaginable varieties. The show, scheduled during Semana Santa, a vacation time around Mexico, ensured a huge turnout for what is becoming an annual rite of Spring in San Lucas.
The show was situated in a privileged position along the marina, near Puerto Paraiso Mall and Luxury Avenue, and the exhibitors included a who’s who of luxury yacht brokers and and water-based activities companies, including Otaduy Yachts, Malibu Boats, Sea-Doo, Boston Whaler, Bertram, Performance Boats, Azimut and Benetti, Fairline, Beneteau, and other movers and shakers in the marine industries. Local companies were represented by Cabo Villas, Cabo Villas, Diamonds International, Wide Open Excursions, and Baja Expeditions, among others.
The live entertainment kicked off on Thursday night with a VIP cocktail reception at the Baja Lobster Company, during which local singer and guitarist Chaplin performed a set that ranged between acoustic folk and rock and roll, and established a high-standard for the acts to follow. Blues Explosion, a group from La Paz, met that standard and perhaps exceeded it, thrilling the crowds Thursday evening and Friday afternoon with a rollicking collection of bluesy offerings, all from the outdoor stage below Puerto Paraiso. On Saturday night, Los Cosmopolitans closed out the Cabo Marine Show in style with their signature local sound, a fusion of jazz, blues, pop, latin beats, and tropical rhythms.
In addition to all the great live music, the event was launched on April 17 with the Cabo Marine Show Costume Ball at the Passion Club and Lounge at Nikki Beach, hosted by the ME Cabo Hotel and featuring a live DJ, and other entertainment, with a VIP atmosphere and awards given out for the best nautical themed costumes.
