Although famed for the extravagances of our luxury hotels, Cabo San Lucas also has some very good accommodation options for budget-oriented travelers. There are many hotels and inns in the downtown area priced in the $50 US per night range, and that offer both a high-level of comfort and a host of basic amenities.
The Mar de Cortez is one of the oldest hotels in San Lucas, yet has had no problems maintaining its popularity, as it is also one of the best values. This is the premier stop for “in-the-know” types: Baja residents in town for the weekend, yearly visitors, fishermen, etc. Featuring a central downtown location and 90 affordable rooms from $50 to $80 US (there are several room types: standard, terrace view, garden view, and suites), there is a large communal pool area, next to which is the onsite restaurant, Baja Peppers, famed for their delicious breakfasts. The eggs benedict are particularly popular. Wireless, parking, and laundry services are also available.
Another great value option is the Cabo Inn Hotel, which has rates from as low as $35 to $40 US. Located downtown near Puerto Paraiso shopping mall, this intimate little inn offers colorful and comfortable rooms, and great amenities like a rooftop pool, library reading room, free wireless, and a complimentary cup of coffee in the morning to jump start your day.
